Lauren Gravatt has been athletic all her life, starting in her early days as a softball player, cheerleader and runner. Her passion for being athletic and outdoors grew during college at Fresno State where she could be found hiking in Yosemite, biking around town, swimming at the school pool and rollerblading from class to class. Summers between semesters would find Lauren working as a life guard at the YMCA camp in Sequoia.
Soon after realizing she needed more of a challenge, Lauren began to race. Starting with 5K’s, sprint triathlons and mud runs then on to trail races, half marathons, Tough Mudders, and Olympic distance triathlons. Loving the variety of exercises and putting her body through tough physically demanding situations, she realized that her strength was lacking.
Lauren joined a gym and practiced moves on typical machines to help gain muscle. About this time her brother, who became affiliated withCrossfit was chiding her and telling her she was doing it all wrong. Soon after she picked up the challenge of some intense beginning WOD’s with her brother and she became addicted and hasn’t looked back. Lauren has competed in team competitions and an individual competition where she won first place in her division.
Lauren’s passion for Crossfit continues to grow, particularly inspiring beginners to exercise while ensuring their safety and pushing them to reach new achievable goals. She loves the variety of moves Crossfit offers people, building a comprehensive athlete. Lauren also loves to travel to other boxes to meet her peers and find the next great Paleo recipe, which she will be happy to share!
