Letting go
“Wittman”
Seven rounds for time of:
1.5 pood Kettlebell swing, 15 reps
95 pound Power clean, 15 reps
15 Box jumps, 24″ box
Jason Khalipa 11:57; Kristan Clever 12:55 (1 pood KB, 65lb clean, 24″ box)
I take it for granted that of every 10 people who try CrossFit (or join our box), only 2 actually embrace the ‘constantly varied, functional movements, high intensity’ prescription as their way of achieving optimal fitness and health. I also take it for granted that those 2 people will stay with us forever, that their lives outside the gym somehow represent a false, corrupted, sub-reality, untouchable by the hard, real, time bending, barbell clanging world that exists within the walls of Paradiso CrossFit.
I also know how foolish this is to believe, because those numbers can work against us too. When we lose one good person (and we’ve lost a few) it feels like we’re losing 10. Meredith ‘Booty’ is one of them.
Able to do a handstand walk like nobody’s business, and consecutive double unders just within her grasp, it was a pleasure and honor to train you Booty.
Help me bid her farewell as her goals take her closer to her home in the mid-west.
Thank you for trusting us with your fitness goals, and wherever your life takes you, you will always be welcome here.
Best of luck Booty.
