Jordan in the zone.

When I began Crossfit, I zoned strictly for 3 weeks as an experiment.  I admit the first week was extremely tough.  There was the constant hunger, the irritability, some days I struggled to make my measly 11 blocks last throughout my longer days while other days I was struggling to get it all in. Basically I was consumed with everything food and it was annoying as hell!  But then I turned that proverbial corner.  I was performing well, my body composition was shifting, I felt lighter, clearer, and I had entered what’s called “the zone”.

Stay with it.  Whether you’re zoning or paleo or both, it does get easier.

For me the experiment was invaluable.

By the end, I saw food not as a vehicle for calories (which you shouldn’t be counting anyways), but rather as a sort of drug that affects hormone levels and certain parts of the brain.  I became more concerned with the quality of my food which led me down the paleo road and I’ve been living there ever since.  Stay diligent, ask questions, check in with your body constantly, and remember it’s not the destination, it’s the journey.  One week down…..
