This weekend marks the beginning of our nutrition challenge and while most things that have a beginning also have an end, I hope you will think bigger. We are calling this a “challenge” to create a sense of awareness and accountability (and what crossfitter doesn’t like a good challenge?) but can you go beyond that? What happens when it’s over? If you’ve cultivated a sense of awareness, created good habits, and feel amazing while doing it, why do anything else? I’ve been around and seen enough challenges to know the intial excitement and good intentions soon become replaced with Facebook updates fantasizing about epic cheat meals. “The Countdown” to the END begins and culminates by going ape shit on a gallon of ice cream.
All that for what? If your only goal is to make it to the end, to be crowned the winner, I ask that you look long and hard about what that really means….Our goal is to educate and initiate what we hope to be a life long pursuit of health and fitness. It starts with nutrition. Being “good” for the duration of a challenge only to be “bad” until the next one is akin to what a chronic yo-yo dieter does and you are no better for it. I can tell you when the challenge concludes, the “winners” may not receive the most recognition at the end of 8 weeks, but then again, they won’t need a challenge.
In other news, beginning today, Coach Frank will be holding Pose running classes every Tuesday morning and evening both at 7:30. This will still be considered an On-Ramp class, but all members are welcome and encouraged to attend at least once prior to attending the regular track nights on Monday and Wednesday.
The focus will be on learning the mechanics of Pose running utilizing skills and drills.
