The midnight marathon is this Saturday! I have had a bit of interest as to where the run will actually take place and about possibly biking along. Check out the path here, and seriously ask yourself if you can pull it off. I am putting my training to the test and venturing off into the unkown. The farthest I have ever run is 8 miles and the farthest I have run within the past month to prepare for this is 3 miles. I am not planning on breaking any records, simply doing my best. I might surprise myself or I might have a total meltdown! The unkown with blisters, nutrition, hydration, knee and hip pain, or electrolyte intake could be worse than I expect. Speaking with Brian Mackenzie from CrossFit Endurance, he says its all about experience. You have to know how to pace yourself, go out too fast and you will suffer at the end of the race. I plan on gaining a lot of experience through this venture and if you want to gain experience as well, join me!
For those that were interested in biking, I had an idea. The run will begin at sundown, precisely at 5:55pm and I plan on taking no more than 5 hours to complete the run. Martina is planning on riding with me the entire way, helping me with supplies and support. I was thinking that maybe a bunch of riders can plan on starting maybe 2 hours later and catch up with us so we finish together and you can at least bike a marathon! Since the trip is one way, this will require some logistics with car pick ups and drop offs, but let me know if you’re interested and we’ll make it happen!
