Farewell and Good Luck!

It was your average weekday evening and I was thirsty.  I went to grab the water jug out of the fridge, behind a variety of food containers in the back.  I tried to angle it just right so that I didn’t have to move anything else.  It was a tight squeeze but I was sure it would fit, and then it happened.

  The water jug nicked the corner of a plastic container of cherry tomatoes.  The image flashed before my eyes.  The container busting open at the edges as it hit the ground.

  The little tomatoes rolling under the stove and into the nooks and crannys of the kitchen floor; ruined and slowing me down from quenching my thirst.  But somehow, without thinking, my left foot came out of nowhere and caught the container!  I stood there holding the refrigerator door in one hand and the water jug in the other, with my foot balancing the container as it teetered on the edge of disaster.  I slowly pushed the tomatoes back onto the shelf with my foot and proceeded to enjoy a long drink of water.  Ahhhh, CrossFit…you never know when it will come in handy.

We train for the unknown and the unknowable.

  These moments happen to me regularly, I perform some random task throughout the day and my thoughts flash into the gym and I thank god I am doing this stuff.
