Analyzation Paralyzation

I heard Coach B use that term in one of the videos when talking about performing olympic lifts. He manages to reduce the complexities of the clean and jerk into a single concept:  jumping and landing.

We all know of course there is a lot more to it than that, but the point is to start with the basic concepts and move closer to our peak efficiency with the movement. Start from the high hang position with a pvc and you will have very few problems with a little coaching. Start from the ground and it becomes more complicated. Start adding some weight? Thats when the real fun begins. We all want to achieve kick ass numbers, but our muscles remember what we do, even if its bad. Create a strong foundation, a strong set up, and you will be rewarded in the long run.

What”s going through your head before you lift? Are you relaxed and visualizing or thinking about your weakness in the movement? Moving your elbows around quicker. Quicker through the midsection. Staying over the bar and being patient. As we move to our one rep max efforts, these things will make or break the lift…if we’re lucky, one day, we will think to ourselves, just jump and land.
