Turkish Get-off your ass!

I believe that everyone wants to be healthy.  Even those that don’t admit that they care, or those that don’t behave accordingly.  Our bodies want to be healthy, but we sit in a society that has no clue what that means.

I received the email below from my mother yesterday, and she was right to think that it would get me fired up!

The email was a correspondence from my Aunt’s cousin to my Aunt, who are both in their 60s and live alone.  Please read and I will discuss below:

I hardly ever eat out.  It makes me uncomfortable.  But, I have crazy habits.  I don’t eat healthy foods. I eat what I think keeps my weight where I want it.  Right now, it’s thick crust pizza, believe it or not.  I allow myself 2 slices – they are about 3″ x 3″ and I look forward to it every night.  I snack on string cheese or lightly salted nuts sometimes.  My downfall is fruit ice pops – so I limit myself to 2 a night.

For breakfast I have a mug of cappuccino. I make them up and keep them in my refrigerator ahead of time, so I only have to grab one on my way out the door. Right now I’m drinking them ice cold because it’s summertime, but, in the winter, I heat them up.I keep matzohs and cream cheese or peanut butter in the shop and strawberry jam and eat that in between if I’m hungry. For lunch — pizza again.

I weigh myself every day — always have been a fanatic about that, and the older I get, the harder it is. But, now that I’m in my 60’s, the only way I can keep it reasonable is to take one 12-hour sudafed in the morning with my vitamins. Have been doing that for years.

It has something in it that curbs my appetite. I go through stages. Sometimes I get a loaf of bread and allow myself two slices of peanut butter and jelly. I know it’s not the best diet, everyday, but I just do it anyway.

Feel free to post your thoughts below.  I wanted to get the post up now, but plan on adding my thoughts as soon as I have a moment.  For now I will say thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to a better way of living!
