Getting Started
Step One:
Start by reading the following two articles: "What is Fitness" and "CrossFit Foundations"
Peruse the CrossFit.com website for a list of exercises and videos, FAQs, and tons of info on the community.
Read through some of our past blogs and workouts of the day (WODs) to get a feel for what we do.
Step Two: CrossFit 101
This is a mandatory session that must be attended prior to participating in the On-Ramp program or the regular group classes. We will cover the foundations of what CrossFit is and how the program will run. We will introduce the squat, press and deadlift as foundational movements and incorporate them into a short workout at the end of the class, so come ready to do some work!
The class is held most Saturdays at 11am until approximately 12:30pm. Check our schedule here or give us a call to speak with us personally.
Step Three: On-Ramp Program or Private Training
The On-Ramp program is a one month program designed to emphasize skill development and exposure to the movements. A major function of this program is to prepare you for our regular group classes. We will be hammering technique, both to ensure your safety and success at the next level.
-
Introduction to proper warm up/ cool down techniques and the different protocols we utilize
- Understanding of the progressions from simple to more complex movements
- Develop an understanding of your strengths and weaknesses
-
Scaled down version of the Workout of the Day (WOD) at the end of each class
-
The difficulty of these workouts is ultimately in your hands...the degree that you push yourself will determine how much suffering goes on. The class is called "On Ramp" for a specific reason. Over the course of the month, we expect to ramp you up to the level of intensity and output that is inherent in our regular group classes
